Fodor's Expert Review Hotel Taura'a
Av. Atamu Tekena s/n, Easter Island, Valparaíso, 277000, Chile
This lovely hotel on Hanga Roa's main street is owned by Bill Howe, an Australian, and his Rapa Nui wife, Edith Pakarati. The staff—mostly members of Edith's family—couldn't be friendlier. The simple rooms have white walls and terra-cotta floors and are extremely comfortable, with excellent beds and linens.
PROS
- good breakfasts—they're different every day of the week—and coffee (a rarity on Easter Island)
- airport transport available
- owners run a tour service
CONS
- no pool
- no air-conditioning in rooms
- decor a bit basic
