Beehive Cheese

Just a 10-minute drive southeast of Ogden, this artisan creamery has become famous in recent years for its creamy yet nutty cheddars, including the signature lavender-coffee-rubbed Barely Buzzed variety, which appears on cheese platters at some of the country's top restaurants. Other flavored varieties of note include apple-walnut-smoked and Hatch chili. You can sample and buy them, along with other tasty products, at this friendly shop.

Caputo's Market & Deli

Cotopaxi

Downtown Farmers' Market

Farmers and artisan food producers proffer fresh fruit and veggies, flowers, and other goodies at this phenomenally popular—and quite extensive—downtown farmers' market at Pioneer Park each Saturday from June through late October. Local bakeries and restaurants also sell tasty treats ranging from fresh salsa to cinnamon rolls, and there's a central food truck plaza with live music, too. A smaller version of the market takes place on Thursday afternoon from 4 until dusk in Liberty Park from mid-June through September, and a winter market is held on Saturday morning at The Gateway from November through April. Additional farmers' markets take place around the city, generally in summer, in Sugar House, Murray, South Jordan, and several other locales.

Escalante Mercantile & Natural Grocery

Farmers Market Ogden

The main summer market runs late June through mid-September from 9 am to 2 pm along Historic 25th Street. There's also a shorter fall market from late September through late October, and a winter version of the market from mid-January to late February.

You can also learn about sustainable agriculture on a free farm tour (given twice monthly) and visit with the friendly goats, pig, dairy cow, and llama, and a two-bedroom suite in the farmhouse is available for overnight stays.

Rowley's Red Barn

Northeast of St. George, this suburban outpost of the legendary family farm and fruit stand in central Utah is a favorite stop for delicious apples, cherries, peaches, pears, and watermelons. Be sure to sample the fresh-pressed apple juice and cider. The ice-cream parlor doles out tasty treats, including shakes and apple-cider slushes.

Steven Lee Adams Fine Arts

Painter Steve Adams has transformed Helper's historic JCPenney building into a glorious showcase for his impressionist takes on nature scenes from all over the world. He shares the space with painter Tim Morse, whose depictions of the Southwest are graphic and vibrant. Most days you can see at least one of them working in this huge studio and gallery. Lofty ceilings with a stuffed elk and motorcycles on display make this a memorable spot to peruse.

The Torrey Gallery
