Central Oregon Breweries

With nearly three dozen breweries and counting, central Oregon rivals the Portland metro area for brewpubs per capita, but it only hit the map as a beer travel destination in recent years.

Since the first microbrewery opened its doors in 1988 (Deschutes Brewery in downtown Bend), the industry has continued to grow and expand. Each brewery and brewpub approaches the craft beer experience in an original manner, often supported by locals and a combination of live music, good food, unique marketing, experimental brews, and good ole standbys that keep pint glasses and growlers filled.

Residents may buoy the industry, but breweries in turn support the community. Local artists design labels, many beer proceeds go to neighborhood causes, and brews are continually concocted with local events and culture in mind.

Bend Ale Trail

Pick up a Bend Ale Trail brochure, or download the app, to guide you through 15 of Bend's breweries. Stop at each brewery, have a taste or a pint, and receive a stamp in your passport. Once you've visited 10 locations, drop by the Bend Visitor Center to receive the prize: a durable silicone pint glass.
