I–90 runs east–west through downtown Cleveland. I–71 and I–77 come up from the south. Driving from the east on the Ohio Turnpike (I–80), take Exit 10 to I–71 N.

I–71, I–77, I–90, and Route 2 are the major thoroughfares into downtown. I–77 can be quite busy throughout the day, and traffic is heavy during morning and evening rush hours. All roads and highways are well signed and there are not too many narrow or one-way streets. Downtown, streets are consecutively numbered; in the University Circle area, the other main tourist center, roads are curvy and it can be challenging to stay on track.

A good option is to park downtown and ride the Rapid Transit Authority's red line to University Circle. Metered parking is available in University Circle but it's often difficult to find a spot. Parking garages are plentiful downtown. Depending on how early you arrive, you can pay between $2 and $10 for a full day. If you do find parking on the street, be sure to put sufficient money in the meter; meter maids are efficient.
