Monterey

Monterey Bay waters never warm to the temperatures of their Southern California counterparts—the warmest they get is the low 60s. That’s one reason why the marine life here is so diverse, which in turn brings out the fishers, kayakers, and whale-watchers. During the rainy winter, the waves grow larger, and surfers flock to the water. On land pretty much year-round, bikers find opportunities to ride, and walkers have plenty of waterfront to stroll.
