Plenty of cantinas are scattered around this port city. Walk down Mario Molina from the Paseo del Malecón to find a handful of the most popular. There are also plenty of beachfront bars in Boca del Río.
It's no surprise that people gravitate toward the zócalo, which is full of marimba artists, mariachi bands, and guitar players. Grabbing a table at a sidewalk café along the park's northern edge gives you a front-row seat, but it also means that every musician will approach you to play you a song for a few dollars. Friday and Saturday nights at 7 pm locals perform traditional dances on a makeshift stage.
