The downtown Café Paradiso screens indie films each Thursday evening and has Tuesday-night poetry readings.

For cultural events, try the Centro Cultural Sampedrano, which often has art exhibitions. It also serves as the public library.

The six-theater multiplex Cinemark in the Multiplaza shows Hollywood releases a few weeks after their U.S. premieres. Most films are shown in English with Spanish subtitles. Children's movies are the exception: they're dubbed.

If your Spanish is up to it, Sabor Cubano is a good place to both see a movie and people-watch.

This new performing-arts space adjoins the Museo de Antropología e Historia and has theater productions and musical performances, all in Spanish.

Teatro Nacional Manuel Bonilla hosts frequent performances by music and dance groups, including Honduras's highly regarded National Symphony Orchestra.
