Why We Like It

The cool design, dedicated co-working space, fun Mexican restaurant and range of affordable, stylish rooms makes Mojo Nomad Central amazing value. The excellent location puts you in the heart of a vibrant local neighborhood that offers the perfect base from which to explore the real Hong Kong.

Fodor's Expert Review

In a city known for its mini-hotels, Mojo Nomad Central brings a new direction to micro-living, showing that less can be more – provided space isn’t your primary concern. Located in the throng of Central on Hong Kong island, Mojo’s recently freshly refurbished interiors strike a young, contemporary impression that will appeal to travelers on a budget who still want a little design for their buck. Decorated in popping colors and geometric prints, the hotel screams hip and its no surprise that its cocktail bar and in-house taco restaurant are a draw for the cool crowd.

Room

Rooms come in a range of sizes but one thing to bear in mind is that they are all compact. Cleverly designed, open shelving makes the most of the space with street art graphics and colorful geometric wallpaper adorning the walls. Even the smallest rooms make the most of what they have, so while you might not be able to swing your legs out of bed in the morning for fear of hitting the wall, you’ll still find a work station and flat-screen TV squashed into rooms from medium upwards.

Tip Larger shared rooms are great for family and friends who appreciate the idea of bunk beds - some sleep up to 12 people!

Bathroom

Unsurprisingly tight on space, the bathrooms have walk-in showers and a slick, contemporary look.

Lobby

A spacious lounge lobby area doubles up as a shared work space for working travellers. Geared towards the creative digital nomad, there are plenty of work stations and high-speed internet.

Dining

In-house Mexican restaurant Te Quiero Mucho is good for tacos, tequilas and more. The buzzy ground floor dining space is an extension of the hotel’s fun, feel-good identity with bright design that incorporates exposed brick and salvaged wood furniture with a warm, communal atmosphere. A great place to eat!

Tip Te Quiero Mucho is very much a spot for the cool crowd.

Drinking

Go with margaritas on the small terrace overlooking the busy streets of Sheung Wan.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

The hotel is in the heart of Sheung Wan, a business and shopping area where you’ll find everything from inexpensive foot massage parlours to antiques. Take a walk around and you’ll likely find a few hip bars and restaurants too. Within walking distance of the prime nightlife neighbourhood of Lan Kwai Fong or the promenade, getting around without the nearby MTR is simple.

Restaurants

You’ve come all the way to Hong Kong and eaten great Mexican food at the hotel so head out and sample some dim sum at the stealthily titled, Dim Sum Square (2-minute walk). There can often be a queue, but the steamed dumplings are worth the wait. For another authentic – and super popular – Hong Kong treat, go to the busy, no muss no fuss Kau Kee (3-minute walk) for beef brisket noodles and Tsing Tao beers.

Bars

Work your way through the huge whisky list at intimate, late night bar Ginger (4-minute walk). From Japanese labels to Scottish malts, the impressive range makes this one of the best places in the city to head for a wee dram. Hong Kong doesn’t have a huge LGBQT scene but the bar and club FLM (3-minute walk) is one dedicated venue. The club plays an eclectic range of music from disco to dance and there’s a separate bar upstairs.
