Mayte Tours offer excellent tours to the ruins around Trujillo. Clara Bravo and Michael White are great guides for Trujillo, and they also lead trips farther afield. Moche Tours is one of Chiclayo's best tour companies for trips to the tomb of El Señor de Sipán.

There are many tour companies in Huaraz; locally owned Eco Ice Tours is among the best, arranging customized trekking and mountain-climbing expeditions. Clarín Tours is said to be one of Cajamarca's best.

In Chachapoyas, contact Vilaya Tours. The company arranges tours to Kuélap, as well as to the remote ruins of Gran Vilaya, which requires a 31-km (19-mile) hike, and to the Pueblo de Los Muertos, which requires a 23-km (14-mile) hike.

Clara Bravo and Michael White. Peruvian-born Clara and British-born Michael are two of Trujillo's most reputable guides and are highly recommended. Moche Tours. This is Chiclayo's largest operator, with trips to most archaeological and cultural attractions in the region, including standard day trips and excursions to less-visited destinations like Ferreñafe for the Museo Nacional de Sicán and the Chaparrí bear reserve.
