Planning Your Time

For people thinking about visiting the capital, the weekend is the ideal time to come, as premium hotels slash their prices to very reasonable levels and flights can be cheaper. Two or three days is enough time to experience the city's sights and atmosphere. Moving west, whether staying in Cuiabá or Campo Grande, one day should be plenty of time in either city to organize a tour to the Pantanal. Look to spend at least three nights in the Pantanal itself for a real taste of this unique ecosystem. Many travelers combine a visit to the Pantanal from Campo Grande with onward travel to Bolivia and/or a side trip to Bonito.
