Fodor's Expert Review 1884 Restaurante Francis Mallman

One of the better known eateries in Mendoza, Francis Mallmann's joint promises good service, handsome surroundings, and tasty fare straight from the flame. The price is steep for Mendoza but if you like fire-cooking and fine wines in a classy surrounding, this is the spot. The master of fire, Mallmann focuses on grilled meats and fish; a host of Patagonian dishes and succulent salads (including a delicious salt-baked pear with burrata cheese) are served as well. The restaurant, located in Godoy Cruz, takes understandable pride in its wine list: choose something from the historic Escorihuela and Caro wineries next door or let the friendly sommelier lead you through the 500-plus choices.

If you are booking in the summer, try to reserve a table in the pretty garden.
