Snoqualmie

Although it's just a 30-mile drive from downtown Seattle, much of the densely wooded town of Snoqualmie (sno-qual-mie) feels as though it could be hours away. Indeed, the rustic scenery and famed Snoqualmie Falls inspired David Lynch to film many of the exterior shots for Twin Peaks in and around the town. Although it's growing quickly (the population has skyrocketed from about 1,600 in 2000 to more than 13,000 today) and becoming more suburban, it's still a popular getaway because of the falls, the luxurious Salish Lodge resort, and the impressive Northwest Railway Museum.
