Air Travel

Three major airports serve both suburban Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), in Arlington, is 5 miles from downtown Washington, D.C. and connects to the city, Arlington, and Alexandria by Metro. Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), about 28 miles west of downtown D.C., is a short drive from sights in Fairfax and Loudoun counties. Despite heavy traffic it also serves as a hub for the rest of Northern Virginia, too. Baltimore-Washington International (BWI) Airport, 10 miles south of Baltimore, also serves the area, but is less convenient for Northern Virginia. All D.C.-area airports are served by taxis and SuperShuttle. Uber is available at all three airports, and Lyft has service to IAD and DCA.
