An elevation of 6,650 feet helps this town of 1,700 residents keep its cool. Main Street is lined with late-19th-century buildings, and its early homes and outbuildings are noted for their distinctive brick architecture. Inexpensive lodging (mainly strip motels) and an excellent location 24 miles northwest of Bryce Canyon National Park and 31 miles east of Cedar Breaks National Monument make Panguitch a comfortable launching pad for recreation in the area.
