Brian Head

This tiny town's Brian Head Resort is Utah's southernmost and highest ski area at well over 9,000 feet, but the area's summer recreation, especially mountain biking, has also developed energetically in recent years. There are now more than 200 miles of trails for bikers, many of which are served by chairlift or shuttle services. The bright red-orange rock formations of Cedar Breaks Monument are several miles south of town.

The snow season is still the high season here, so book winter lodging in advance and expect higher room rates. During the fall "mud season" (October and November) and spring "slush season" (April and May), some local businesses shut down in this village with fewer than 100 year-round residents.
