Ranger Programs

Birding Talks. When staffing allows, rangers lead two-hour birding tours; bring binoculars. Chisos Basin Visitor Center, End of Chinos Basin Rd., Big Bend National Park, Texas, 79834. 432/477–2264; www.nps.gov/bibe. Nov.–Mar., daily 8–3:30; Apr.–Oct., daily 9–4; closed for lunch.

Interpretive Activities. Ranger-guided activities are held throughout the park, indoors and outdoors, and include slideshows, talks, and walks on natural and cultural history. Check visitor centers and campground bulletin boards for event postings, which are usually updated every two weeks. Junior Ranger Program. This self-guided program for kids of all ages is taught through a free booklet of nature-based activities (available at visitor centers).
