What’s Where

Downtown. At the center of it all, Portland's downtown boasts the Portland Art Museum, Pioneer Courthouse Square, and the Portland Farmers Market along with notable restaurants.

Old Town/Chinatown. This is the area for Asian-inspired public art and the LanSu Chinese Garden. It’s also home to the Portland Saturday Market, North America's largest open-air handicraft market.

Pearl District. Bordering Old Town to the northwest is Portland's trendy and posh neighborhood teaming with upscale restaurants, bars, and shopping, along with pricey condos and artists' lofts. Don’t leave Portland without visiting Powell's City of Books here.

Nob Hill. From funky to fabulous, this neighborhood is also referred to as "Northwest 23rd" or "Northwest District." The exciting shopping, restaurants, and bars draw a younger but still sophisticated crowd.

Forest Park. Forest Park is the largest forested area within city limits in the nation. Trailheads easily accessible from Nob Hill begin at the west ends of NW Thurman and Upshur streets.

North. The "fifth quadrant," North Portland sits on the peninsula formed by the joining of the Willamette River and the Columbia River. Part working-class, part trendy, North Mississippi Avenue and North Williams Street are hip dining and drinking destinations.

Northeast. Containing the Rose Garden basketball arena, the Lloyd Center Mall, the Alberta Arts District, and some of the city's poorest and most affluent neighborhoods, Portland's Northeast quadrant is diverse to say the least.

Southeast. The vibrant pockets of foodie-approved restaurants make the Southeast a Portland cultural must-see. This neighborhood is also kid-friendly with the OMSI science museum and Mount Tabor Park, located on an inactive volcano.

Southwest. This neighborhood is home to Washington Park, which contains many must-sees, including the Hoyt Arboretum, International Rose Test Garden, Japanese Garden, and Portland Children's Museum.
