Fodor's Expert Review Smoke Jazz & Supper Club

Upper West Side Live Music

Editor's Note: This property is currently undergoing renovations.

If you can't wait to get your riffs on, head uptown to this lounge near Columbia University, where dinner service, which starts at 5 pm seven days a week, is often followed by music at 7 and continues with two more shows nightly at 9 and 10:30 (check the website for a performance calendar and to reserve). The room seats just about 50 guests, so shows are intimate, with superb acoustics. Performers have included some of the top names in the business, such as turban-wearing organist Dr. Lonnie Smith and the drummer Jimmy Cobb (who kept time on Miles Davis's seminal album Kind of Blue).
