Why We Like It

Vintage style and stellar common spaces make this the kind of hotel where guests will want to spend a pretty significant amount of time. Attention to detail makes all the difference in a stay here—we love the claw foot bathtubs (whether they're located in the bathroom or otherwise), as well as the cozy bar with talented bartenders mixing up signature cocktails.

Fodor's Expert Review

Named after the emerging neighborhood where it’s located, this upscale-bohemian property was one of the most talked-about hotels when it opened in 2012. Designed by Parisian architect Jacques Garcia and including features such as a wood-paneled library with cocktail service and rooms with claw foot tubs, the Beaux Arts NoMad is a perfect blend of style and comfort.

Room

Jacques Garcia was inspired by residential living in Paris when designing these rooms. The warm spaces have quirky artwork, reclaimed maple floors, vintage area rugs, and charming claw foot tubs.

You Should Know If privacy is your thing, ask for a room with a tub in the bathroom, rather than right out in the open.

Bathroom

Walk-in showers give these European-style bathrooms a super luxurious feel. Try the Côté Bastide Argan bath products made exclusively for the hotel.

Lobby

A small check-in area is complemented by several appealing common spaces, including an atrium, a parlor (with a fireplace), The Elephant Bar, and a library (where you can feel free to take the books and read them).

Dining

The Atrium restaurant has a club-like atmosphere and is headed up by award-winning chef Daniel Humm, of Eleven Madison Park fame.

Drinking

The gorgeous library and long bar provide plenty of cozy spaces to hang out and have a drink--the cocktail program here is outstanding.

Tip After 4pm, the library is reserved for guests only—this can be a peaceful alternative to the popular, and at times crowded, cocktail bar.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

From the NoMad Hotel, the landmarks of midtown Manhattan and the art galleries of Chelsea are both within a short walk. Subway access is a bit limited, with the 1 train at 28th Street and 7th Avenue, the R and W trains at 28th Street and Broadway, and the 6 train at 28th Street and Park Avenue South.

Restaurants

The Breslin (2-minute walk), one of New York’s best gastropubs, is a destination for meat, where they've got a dry aged ribeye and merguez sausage, as well as craft beers. Get a taste of California in a distinctly New York sleek setting at Upland (7-minute walk), where they have good pizzas and cocktails. For an affordable bite, head on over to Madison Square Park and join the locals in line for burgers and shakes at Shake Shack (6-minute walk).

Bars

Above the Italian food emporium, Eataly, La Birreria (4-minute walk) is an all-season rooftop microbrewery with skyline views and a retractable roof. For a nightcap nearby, order a glass of red wine at the intimate Vin Sur Vingt Wine Bar (1-minute walk).
