Fodor's Expert Review Edi & the Wolf

This rustic-chic Austrian spot is a bit unexpected for the neighborhood, but that hasn't stopped a steady stream of diners from heading to the farther reaches of the East Village since it opened in 2010. The Wiener schnitzel is wonderfully light and grease-free and the delicious highlight of the menu, but if you're in the mood for something else, there's usually a fish option, hearty short ribs, and a vegetarian preparation of spaetzle.
