Fodor's Expert Review CODA Williamsburg
160 N. 12th St., Brooklyn, New York, 11249, USA
Formerly the McCarren Hotel & Pool, this sleek boutique hotel has gotten a face-lift by way of CODA Studio, a California-based furniture company—with a motif described as "Bali meets Malibu," the lobby, guest rooms, and penthouse double as showrooms of their furnishings, all of which are available for purchase. This includes their beds that are available in low or high options when you book a stay. CODA's backyard is stage for summer pool parties, while the trendy rooftop bar offers views of McCarren Park and patches of the Manhattan skyline. The subterranean restaurant Bohemia serves Balinese-inspired fare by day and evening, but transforms into a nightclub late Friday and Saturday night.
PROS
- high hip factor
- good food and cocktails
- close to main thoroughfare Bedford Avenue
CONS
- skyline views obstructed by new high-rise building
- the immediate view of the park is more concrete than greenery
- the pool gets crowded in summer
