We love the unfussy Silverleaf Tavern for a quick bite or nightcap. Suites with terraces and views of the Empire State Building are a worthy splurge.

Repeat guests love the quiet Park Avenue location, the 24-hour fitness center, and the relaxed on-site tavern. The bright color palette might not suit all guests taste, but this property offers comfort and good value.

Getting Around

Located on Park Avenue and East 38th Street, this hotel is located in a quiet neighborhood on the border of bustling midtown Manhattan. Subway service is excellent, with the 4, 5, 6, and 7 trains at Grand Central and the B, D, F, and M trains at 42nd Street/Bryant Park. Taxis and Uber are available in the neighborhood, but traffic congestion is a common problem.

Restaurants

The colorful Salvation Taco (4-minute walk) serves tacos as envisioned by Chef April Bloomfield; try the heritage pork tostada with poblano peppers. Cracker thin crust pizza is pulled from the wood-burning ovens at Marta (10-minute walk), a cozy restaurant inspired by the style of pizza popular in Rome. For a taste of Denmark at an affordable price, check out the several kiosks in the Great Northern Food Hall (5-minute walk); sit down service is available at the grain bar or grab anything from the divine bakery to go.

Bars

Cocktails are served in a former antiques store at Middle Branch (9-minute walk), a two-level lounge with a speakeasy feel. With exposed brick walls, tin ceilings, and a long bar Tavern 29 (10-minute walk) is a comfortable spot to linger over draught beers. When the weather is nice, climb the stairs to the rooftop.
