Overlooking the village green of tiny, quiet Temple, this affordable and friendly B&B built in 1775 once hosted Henry David Thoreau. The three guest rooms are done with an English-style mixture of modern and antique furnishings, and the on-site tavern serves eclectic comfort fare, from flat-bread pizzas to steak and fish-and-chips. A 10-minute drive southeast of Peterborough, the inn is also convenient to the attractions in and around Milford, to the east.
