Kansas City has three distinct areas: Kansas City, Missouri, which includes the downtown district and most major attractions; Kansas City, Kansas; and Johnson County, Kansas, primarily a suburban area. Interstate 70 runs east–west through Kansas City, Kansas, and Kansas City, Missouri. I–35 runs north–south through downtown to the Johnson County suburbs. I–29 runs north–south from the airport to downtown. I–435 circles the entire metro area. Main Street is a major north–south route through the city. Parking is easy to find in most areas of the city.

Rules of the Road

Speed limits generally are 25 mph in residential areas, 35 mph in business districts, and 55 mph on divided highways inside the metro area, unless posted otherwise. Children must be in safety seats in both Kansas and Missouri. Right turns are permitted at red lights after stopping.
