Why We Like It

From thoughtful touches like locally made snacks in the rooms to chic décor which evokes its 19th century roots without being over the top, the Woods Hole Inn is luxurious place to stay. Its central location couldn’t be better and the staff couldn’t be nicer. The gourmet breakfast, whipped up by the inn’s private chef, is excellent, and the inn’s two eating establishments are a nice bonus.

Fodor's Expert Review

This gorgeously restored 19th century property, located right on the harbor in Woods Hole, features 11 rooms and suites. The inn is contemporary and luxurious, but also pays homage to its past with original hardwood floors, vintage items and cool touches like old guest cards repurposed into wallpaper. A delicious breakfast, excellent service and an ideal location makes this a great choice.

There are so many restaurants within steps of the inn, it can be hard to choose. Recommendations from Beth, the innkeeper, include Landfall (1-minute walk), a family-run business for more than 70 years, which offers “boiled lobster, steamed clams, baked scrod and heavy-pour cocktails” and Water Street Kitchen (1-minute walk), which offers “An authentic farm to table experience in a romantic space.” The neighboring Pie in the Sky Bakery Cafe is an “iconic scratch bakery with famous popovers, wonder bars and delicious whole pies.” And, of course, Quicks Hole Tavern, located next door to the inn is owned by the Woods Hole Inn. It offers New American cuisine with fresh salads, locally sourced seafood and house specials like quahog chowder.

Bars
