Fodor's Expert Review Doyle's Cafe
Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.
Truly an institution since 1892—and the first pub to put Sam Adams on tap—this friendly, crowded neighborhood Irish pub is a political as well as cultural landmark. Candidates for office from Boston City Council to U.S. Senate drop by to eat corned beef and cabbage, sample from 30 tap brews or 60 single-malt scotches, speechify, and "press the flesh." Non-Irish noshes include trout burgers, award-winning clam "chowdah," and kale-linguica soup.
