Fodor's Expert Review

One of the city's best small hotels is on posh Commonwealth Avenue, modeled after Paris's epic Champs Élysées, and it expertly merges the old blue-blood Boston aesthetic with modern flair (like contemporary art mingling with crystal chandeliers); everyone from well-heeled Sox fans to traveling CEOs to tony college parents have noticed.

Room

The rooms are smart, not stuffy, and have a European-style luxury to them. The majority of rooms are one-bedroom suites; all have marble-topped bar areas, flat-panel TVs, plush mattresses piled with down pillows and premium linens, mini-bars, and work desks. One-bedroom suites have two TV's and a queen-size sleeper sofa in the living room, which is separated from the bedroom by elegant French doors.

You Should Know Rooms ending in 02 have views of Commonwealth Avenue; those ending in 04 and 08 are larger corner rooms.

Bathroom

Bathrooms are generally not that big at the Eliot, but they are fully stocked with amenities. In most rooms, there are elegant Italian marble walk-in showers. Don't miss their signature robes!

Lobby

The Eliot is beautiful inside and out. Step into the Neo Georgian-style building and you're immersed in an elegant lobby adorned with crystal chandeliers and lots of marble. It's not your typical, bustling hotel lobby, but it's the perfect getaway for those who love to fly under the radar.

Gym

There's no gym on-site, but guest receive complimentary passes to Boston Sports Club, which is located around the corner.

Dining

Downstairs, Chef Ken Oringer’s famed UNI has transformed from an intimate sashimi bar to an expansive, lively izakaya, garnering rave reviews for its contemporary Asian cuisine.

Tip Hungry late on a Friday or Saturday night? Don't miss Uni's famed late-night ramen.

Drinking

Uni's bar menu is filled with sake options, as well as tiki drinks, beer (many of which are from Japan) and highball cocktails.
