Built as a luxury apartment house in 1924, this 13-story hotel faces the Washington Monument. The hotel retains its original distinguished lobby and other period touches such as marble bathrooms. Recent updates to rooms include marble bathrooms and new carpeting. Desks and two-line speakerphones with data ports are standard; a lobby business center has a fax machine, copier, and computer station. Rooms with park views are the best choice. A courtesy shuttle will ferry you to destinations within a 2-mi radius. The hotel bistro, George's on Mount Vernon Square, serves American and Italian cuisine.
