Fodor's Expert Review Tuck U Inn at Glick Mansion Bed and Breakfast
503 N. 2nd St., Atchison, Kansas, 66002, USA
Built by George Glick in 1873, this place has a storied past. Mr. Glick's career as a lawyer, farmer, and politician—he was elected Kansas's governor for one term in 1882—significantly shaped the founding of the city of Atchison. Owner Chris Wildly has added romantic touches like four-poster and canopied beds and carved wooden-back chairs to each of the five rooms; all have private baths, but one contains the original pedestal tub. Rooms have modern amenities like television and DVD player too, but the historic theme continues with the period hues of rich golds, greens, and reds.

CONS
- no children under 10 (except babies)
- some two-night minimum stay weekends
