Horseshoe brings a slice of Texas to the Midwest, along with barbecue brisket and pulled pork (and some surprisingly good vegetarian versions). Live bluegrass bands or honky-tonk jukebox tunes draw displaced Southerners, whose nostalgia is drowned out by the down-home decor—think chicken-wire, scruffy floors, and horseshoe-shaped booths—and rounds of ice-cold Lone Star beer.
