Fodor's Expert Review Yusho

$$ Logan Square Japanese Fodor's Choice

Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.

Yes, it's Japanese, but a standard sushi-teriyaki spot this is not. Charlie Trotter's veteran Matthias Merges gives diners a cheffed-up look at contemporary Japanese cuisine with this hip Avondale yakitori joint. Most dishes are modestly priced and portioned to encourage sharing, including the Logan Poser ramen with pig tail, fishball, and hen egg, and twice-fried chicken with matcha (green tea) and lime, along with plenty of vegetarian-friendly dishes. Score a deal on Sunday with the Sunday Noodles special for $20, which includes a ramen dish, soft-serve ice cream, and beverage.
