The Whitley Atlanta Buckhead

3434 Peachtree Rd. NE, Atlanta, Georgia, 30326, United States, Atlanta, Georgia, USA

Why We Like It

While Buckhead has no shortage of luxury hotels, the Whitley stands out thanks to its gorgeous lobby lounge, spacious and luxurious guest rooms, full-service spa and relaxing indoor pool area. Nearly any amenity you could want is here (besides free Wi-Fi) and it's not as expensive as other luxury properties in the area. The location in the heart of Buckhead is also ideal for luxury shoppers.

Fodor's Expert Review

Decorated with 18th- and 19th-century antiques, this elegant hotel is a regular stopover for visiting celebrities. The richly wood-paneled Lobby Lounge is a respite for shoppers from nearby Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza. The spacious guest rooms are furnished with traditional reproductions. The Whitley Club Level showers you with everything from a bountiful continental breakfast in the morning to hors-d'oeuvres and dessert in the evening.

Tip The hotel has more than 30,000 square feet of meeting and function space, making it a popular location for weddings, business meetings and conferences. Before you book, call the hotel and ask if there will be a large function over your travel dates to avoid a possibly overly busy environment.

Room

Most of the 507 guest rooms (including 56 suites) have stunning views of the Atlanta skyline thanks to oversized windows, and deluxe rooms are decorated in warm and inviting shades of rose and cognac. Rest easy on a Luxury Collection featherbed mattress dressed in 400-thread count sheets, and enjoy in-room amenities like espresso machines, individual climate control and turndown service.

Bathroom

Bathrooms are tight but nice, with marble countertops and rain head shower/tub combos. There are long and comfortable robes for guest use, and amenities by BYREDO.

Lobby

The lobby is tasteful and comfortable, with wood-paneled walls, deep-seated chairs with floral lilac upholstery, buttery leather sofas and a sparkling crystal chandelier with pops of lavender crystals. The Lobby Lounge is a favorite spot for after work drinks among locals so it can get a bit busy, but it's also a nice place to relax with a drink during slower hours. The main restaurant, Trade Root, is also just off the lobby.

You Should Know Wi-Fi costs $12.95 per day for use in guest rooms unless you're a SPG Member and you make your reservation on Starwood websites, mobile sites, SPG apps or a customer contact center. Also, if you bring a car, valet parking cost is ridiculous at $42-55 per day.

Pool

The indoor pool is spacious and heated, with dedicated lanes for swimming laps, and there's a whirlpool. Both are under a massive skylight so you can still enjoy the sun without actually being outdoors. There's an outdoor pool deck with lounge chairs for sunbathing.

Spa

The spa offers a variety of signature treatments, ranging from massages and facials to body scrubs and salon services like manicures, pedicures and waxing, for both hotel guests and locals.

Gym

The fitness center looks out onto the indoor pool area and features multiple treadmills, ellipticals, free weights, water with orange slices, fresh fruit, and ice cold cucumber towels. The concierge team can also provide a list of nearby running trails.

Dining

The main restaurant, Trade Root, has a lovely lounge area for small bites or cocktails, or you can head straight to the main dining room for Mediterranean-inspired fare like roasted beet hummus, grilled octopus with chorizo and fingerling potatoes, or braised lamb shank. Trade Root serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, or you can opt for in-room dining 24-hours a day.

Drinking

In addition to the Lobby Bar for cocktails, wine and beer, there's a dedicated Coffee Bar from 6:30 am until 2 pm for gourmet coffee, fresh juice, tea and grab and go items.
