Why We Like It

From the top floors, the Intercontinental Buckhead Atlanta has fantastic views of downtown Atlanta and its location in the heart of Buckhead is the best of both worlds—you're close but not too close to downtown and still within walking distance to great shopping and restaurants. The hotel also boasts one of the best restaurants and bars in town right on property, so you don't even have to head outside for great food and drinks. Although the fee for Wi-Fi is the pits, the property makes up for it with great service.

Fodor's Expert Review

As the flagship location for the Atlanta-based chain, the Intercontinental Buckhead Atlanta is a sophisticated 5-star space ideal for both business and leisure travelers. There's more than 31,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space, then when the work day is over, you can unwind in heated saltwater outdoor pool or schedule a treatment at Jurlique Spa Atlanta. The Bourbon Bar has a wide selection of its namesake liquor, including some rare vintages. Southern Art restaurant serves upscale, Southern farm-to-table dishes, with outdoor terrace seating overlooking Peachtree Road.

Tip There's a $10 fee for wifi access unless you're part of the IHG rewards program so make sure you sign up for it beforehand to get the benefit.

Bathroom

Spacious marble bathrooms with separate soaking tubs and glass showers, and luxury lemon verbena bath products from Agraria.

Lobby

The lobby is on the traditional side with rose-hued marble floors, huge marble columns, plenty of natural light and fireplaces. There's plenty of seating space to relax with a drink from the bar, and all roads lead to the massive registration desk so there's no chance you'll get confused trying to check in.

Pool

The heated outdoor saline pool is quite large, with bright red umbrellas and cushioned deck chairs, giving the entire space a swanky Miami vibe. There's also a seasonal pool bar for drinks and snacks. When the temperatures drop, have dip in the outdoor hot tub.

Gym

The gym is large and packed with state-of-the-art cardio equipment, weight machines, yoga mats, stability balls, and free weights, along with towels, filtered water (both plain or with orange slices), fruit and lockers.

Dining

Celebrity Chef Art Smith runs the onsite restaurant, Southern Art, whipping up farm fresh southern dishes for every meal of the day. For breakfast there's a full buffet with omelet and waffle stations, or an a la carte menu. Dinner is made up of southern classics like buttermilk fried chicken and southern crawfish pie. If swine is more your speed, don't miss the Ham Bar right next to Southern Art, showcasing artisan ham and charcuterie plates served with house-made mustards, jams and toast.

Drinking

Bourbon Bar is a popular spot among locals so you may have to fight for a seat to sip more than 70 bourbons and specialty cocktails, with a focus on pre-prohibition era classic drinks.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

In the heart of the upscale Buckhead neighborhood, the hotel is a short distance from tons of shopping and attractions including Lenox Square, Phipps Plaza and LEGOLAND Discovery Center Atlanta. The Buckhead MARTA station is a 5-minute walk and is easily the fastest way to get to downtown Atlanta, but if you're averse to public transportation, try a ride-share service or drive the 7-miles downtown. Fair warning, parking downtown will be tough and expensive.

Restaurants

A two-minute walk from the hotel brings you to the oh-so-French Bistro Niko, a chic spot for comforting brunch, lunch and dinner dishes like Croque Madame and Coq Au Vin. Bones is a classic American steakhouse with dark wood paneling, red leather chairs and a clubby vibe (7-minute walk).

Bars

Whiskey Mistress is a fun nightspot for cocktails and live music, but its definitely more of a club than cocktail bar so don't come here if you're looking to have an intimate conversation (9-minute walk).
