Key West Hotels Away from the Craziness
Key West is a destination that is lively, full of character, and even a bit curious. It’s definitely fun to visit, but do you really want to stay in the midst of the madness 24/7? To maintain your sanity, try vacationing at a resort that’s far enough away to provide a respite, yet close enough for you to access all that the Southernmost City has to offer, in mere minutes. These Key West hotels are quiet--so you can relax, away from the craziness.
The Southernmost House
Why it made the list
It’s perhaps the most photographed home in Key West, and it’s easy to see why. But that’s only half the reason guests love this colorful, Victorian B&B on the ocean. The other reasons are the personal service, location, beautiful pool, oceanfront sundeck, and fun onsite outdoor bar.
The Reach, A Waldorf Astoria Resort
Why it made the list
Tucked between a sushi restaurant and the Atlantic Ocean, this almost hidden-from-public-view resort offers a whole lot of big payoffs, but what else would you expect from a Waldorf Astoria property? Upscale rooms, a soft, natural sand beach (a rarity in the Keys), and plenty to do, especially since you get full access to sister property, Casa Marina.
Parrot Key Resort
Why it made the list
One of the big perks of the New Town area of Key West is staying at Parrot Beach. You’ve got spacious and tropical accommodations, pool areas with an artistic flare, watersports right on site, and a peacefulness that can only come from a private patio and beach.
Oceans Edge Key West Hotel & Marina
Why it made the list
This property is the furthest from Key West, as it’s on Stock Island, but with a free shuttle to Duval Street, you have the best of both worlds--including an ocean view from every elegant suite. You’ll also get to experience a taste of ‘old Key West’ on Stock Island.
Hyatt Residence Club Key West, Windward Pointe
Why it made the list
On the far east side of the island is where you’ll find these completely contemporary accommodations with a full kitchen, and a big pool and deck with views of the Atlantic. This is the former site of the KeyWester Motel, where The Beatles stayed and played in 1964. Be sure to have a cocktail and get a t-shirt at their Abbey Road Snack Shack.
The Inn at Key West
Why it made the list
On the west side of New Town, this fun and happening hotel has everything you need, including a free shuttle to Duval. But with so much happening here, you might not want to leave. The largest pool on the island, a fantastic daily breakfast buffet (that’s only $12), an onsite café and Tiki Bar with outstanding and creative drinks, and clean, comfy rooms are yours to enjoy.
Coconut Bay Resort & Bay Harbor Lodge
Why it made the list
Be at home by the sea in your own private, fully-furnished, beach house-style accommodations on the Atlantic. Take a dip in the beautiful pool on the edge of the ocean, and revel in a shared balcony with sparkling views. You'll also get a key to the back gate of one of Key West's best restaurants.
