The 6 Best Denver Hotels Outside of Downtown
Denver is more than just the downtown area. Though the bulk of Denver hotels are in Downtown, some of the city's best gems are just outside that radius, waiting to be discovered. Sometimes, the best Denver hotels outside of Downtown are classic bed and breakfasts, or independent hotels, but a few known names in other worthy neighborhoods also await.
Capitol Hill Mansion Bed & Breakfast Inn
Why it made the list
Live as the rich of the 1880s and 1890s did and stay at this Denver hotel outside of downtown in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. The stately mansion is surrounded but other posh turn-of-the-century residences, established trees, and still a pleasant walk to Downtown, Uptown, and Golden Triangle.
The Westin Denver International Airport
Why it made the list
Truly outside of Downtown, the Westin at DIA is a good 40 minutes from Denver's city center. But, as far as airport hotels go, this one is marvelous, with top notch rooms and amenities, interesting views, and a cool bar overlooking one of two runways.
Queen Anne Bed & Breakfast
Why it made the list
This gem, on the border between Uptown and Five Points, once belonged to a noteworthy Denver family. Again, the location is terrific, with access to Downtown, Uptown, and the happening RiNo Arts District that overlaps several neighborhoods. The light rail isn't far, which makes this Denver hotel feel like, even though it's outside of Downtown, it's still in the middle of the action.
Warwick Denver
Why it made the list
This hotel is just outside of Downtown Denver in the Uptown neighborhood. (Get it?) Perched a few blocks from Broadway, the Warwick provides easy access to Downtown as well as Uptown offices and the bevy of shops, restaurants, and bars that line both 17th and 19th Avenues.
Halcyon
Why it made the list
This Cherry Creek marvel is a luxury offering with amenities you won't find at other Denver hotels. The Gear Garage, where guests can borrow bicycles, skateboards, snowshoes, and even Piaggio scooters, allow travelers to explore areas other than Downtown, like Country Club, Congress Park, and Cheesman Park.
