Forget low-key drinks—the only way to experience what is arguably SF's definitive upscale sky-high bar and lounge with a view is to dress up, bring the credit card, and enjoy the swanky, refined modern decor of this San Francisco legend (for decades it was the consummate local party host Harry Denton's Starlight Room) on the Sir Francis Drake Hotel's 21st floor. Sunday brunch brings a popular drag show, and the small dance floor is packed on Friday and Saturday nights (when cover charges start at 9 pm). Jackets are preferred for men.
