Getting Here and Around

Don't plan on flying into Flagstaff, Sedona, or Prescott; commercial flights are limited. Plus the scenery on the two-hour drive from Phoenix is gorgeous.

It makes sense to rent a car in this region, since trails and monuments stretch miles past city limits and many area towns can’t be reached by the major bus companies. The major rental agencies have offices in Flagstaff, Prescott, and Sedona. Avoid interstates when possible; the back ways can be more direct and have the best views of the stunning landscape. Instead of Interstate 17, take AZ 89A through Verde Valley and Oak Creek Canyon. Weekend traffic around Sedona can be heavy, so leave early and allow extra time.
