Fodor's Expert Review Christo's Palace
Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.
Hiding behind a nondescript facade, this ornately furnished downtown restaurant is surprisingly elegant, with high-beamed ceilings, dark-wood accents, ornate chandeliers, and a large mahogany bar reportedly built in the mid-1800s and imported from San Francisco. The fare includes burgers, pizza, and Mexican food—Alaskan seafood is served at night—all in generous portions. The grilled halibut portobello is particularly good. The desserts are tempting, and there is a small selection of after-dinner cognacs.
