Rooms are clean and simply furnished; public areas are comfortable albeit a bit pokey, and exude a faded charm. The on-site café is more contemporary, and hotel guests receive a 15% discount off the dinner menu in the very lively pub downstairs. If you're traveling as a family, the studios and one-bedroom suites in the heritage property next door are exceptional values and book up months in advance.
