Duncan

Duncan, the largest town in the valley, is nicknamed the City of Totems for the more than 40 totem poles that dot the small community. Between May and September, free walking tours of the totems leave hourly from the south end of the train station building on Canada Avenue (contact the Duncan Business Improvement Area Society, at 250/715–1700, for more information). On Saturday year-round, the City Square at the end of Craig Street hosts an outdoor market, where you can browse for local produce, crafts, and specialty foods. Duncan is also home to the world's largest hockey stick—look for it on the outside wall of the Duncan arena on the west side of Highway 1 as you drive through town.
