Fodor's Expert Review Hacienda Uayamón
Carretera Campeche-ZA Edzná, Campeche, 24530, Mexico Fodor's Choice
Editor's Note: This property is currently undergoing renovations.
The original hacienda architecture has been preserved at this luxury hotel, where each solar-powered casita (former servants' quarters) has a cozy bedroom, a bathroom, a hot tub, and a private garden (Casita 3 even has a hidden cave), and two suites are in what was once the property's hospital. The library is particularly noteworthy, with its exposed-beam ceilings, cane chairs, sisal carpets, and wooden bookshelves at least 12 feet high. The original tienda de raya, or company store, houses a spa that offers Maya-influenced massage and other treatments. Just beyond the massive, 100-year-old ceiba tree, the ruins of a machine house now shelter the outdoor pool.
