Bullfighting

Monumental Plaza Mexico. Whether you consider it blood sport or ballet, bullfighting remains one of Spain's most lasting colonial legacies on Mexico. Corridas happen here, at the world's largest bullring, in the Ciudad de los Deportes neighborhood. Outside the circular building, vendors hawk stuffed toy bulls, leather wine canteens, sausage sandwiches, and extra tickets to the day's event. Inside, the dress code ranges from casual to classy as bullfighting aficionados issue appreciative shouts of ¡Ole! at the nattily dressed toreadors below. Ticket prices vary greatly depending on where the seats are located, with sol (sun) always ringing up cheaper than sombra (shade). There are two bullfighting seasons annually, one in the spring and another in the fall; in the off-season, the venue hosts concerts, boxing matches, and other events. Augusto Rodín 241, Col.
