Why We Like It

On the site of a former courthouse, with its entrance nestled between a boutique shop and the region’s best English language bookstore, el ángel azul is an intimate oasis in the heart of La Paz; only a few blocks from the city center, Plaza Constitución, but a world away in terms of peace, quiet and privacy.

Fodor's Expert Review

Owner Esther Ammann converted La Paz's historic courthouse into a bed-and-breakfast that's a comfortable retreat in the center of the city. Rooms frame a central courtyard filled with cacti, palms, and bougainvillea. Walls throughout are painted vivid yellow, coral, and blue and rooms are decorated with original art and Mexican textiles. The rooftop suite overlooks the city.
