Why We Like It

The Marquis is a standout among Los Cabos’ many adults-only resorts, thanks to its excellent service, stylish accommodations and amenities, and spectacular seaside views.

Fodor's Expert Review

Stunning architecture, a property-wide art collection of unique pieces, noticeable attention to detail, and loads of luxurious touches make the Marquis a standout. The adult's-only resort is ideal for couples and honeymooners. Rooms overlook the ocean, boast L'Occitane toiletries, reversible mattresses (hard or soft), high-speed Internet, and original art. At 1,400 square feet each, the 26 casitas are ideal for extended vacations. They are located right on the beach. A serpentine swimming pool, the length of the hotel, curves along the edge of the sand. The five on-site restaurants offer plenty of all-inclusive choices at mealtimes, and the coffee shop with fresh pastries and boxed lunches is a nice touch. Be sure to reserve a table at the French restaurant, which is surprisingly authentic. Outside guests can enjoy the amenities and all-inclusive services by purchasing a day pass for $150.

Room

Stylish contemporary sofas and chairs are blended with traditional Mexican touches like tile floors, dark wood tables and cabinets, embroidered pillow cases, and regional artworks to create chic and unique tropical style accommodations.

Tip All suites offer ocean view balconies.

Bathroom

Bathrooms showcase both jacuzzi soak tubs and walk-in showers, as well as double sink stations, and luxurious L’Occitane bath and body products.

Lobby

The airy, rainbow-arced entrance is magnificent, offering immediate views through the lobby to the glittering blue waters of the Sea of Cortés. It is one of the most breathtaking architectural accents in the region, equaled only, perhaps, by the striking arch-shaped hotel wing at the nearby Westin.

Pool

The Marquis boasts three swimming pools, including two enormous infinity-edged pools that snake between the resort and its secluded golden sand beach.

Spa

Swedish and Shiatsu massages are among the many pampering attractions at Spa Marquis, an expansive 13,000 square foot wellness center with a full range of body treatments and beauty salon services.

Gym

The on-site fitness center is never in any danger of running out of treadmills for cardio-minded guests, and resistance-oriented exercise machines, barbells, and dumbbells are also available.

Dining

Chef Thierry Dufour’s Canto del Mar is the resort’s signature restaurant, and the finest purveyor of French cuisine in Los Cabos. Memorable meals may also be had at Vista Ballena - where whales are occasionally spotted during breakfast or Mexican themed lunches and dinners – at pan-Asian specialist Sakke, and at seafood-focused Dos Mares. Additional all-inclusive pleasures include the poolside grill Pergola, known for its Italian fare, and the coffee bar Espresso Cappuccino.

Drinking

Tropical cocktails and a sunset-friendly, al fresco terrace area are the main attractions at the aptly named Suspiros (Sighs) Bar.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

Shuttle service is available to the airport or the two cape cities, but is not complimentary. Bus service is a cheap, convenient choice for those wishing to explore Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo; but rental cars offer far more comfort, not to mention flexibility. Taxi service, too, is available, but is quite expensive in comparison to the other transportation options.

Restaurants

The nearby Hilton resort (2-minute drive along the Carretera Transpeninsular) offers two superb dining alternatives: El Mesón, a seafood mecca whose treasures include farm-raised totoaba, a delicious food fish from the northern Sea of Cortés; and Vela, an elegant, candlelit poolside restaurant that serves tasty and filling Italian dishes.

Bars

New culinary market El Merkado (at the Koral Center, a 3-minute drive along the Carretera Transpeninsular) features hoppy craft-brewed beers, while sushi restaurant Nick-San’s Champagne Lounge (at Shoppes at Palmilla, a 5-minute drive along the Carretera Transpeninsular) is a congenial place to enjoy upscale sparkling wines.
