Fodor's Expert Review Hacienda Todos los Santos

End of Benito Juárez, Todos Santos, Baja California Sur, 23300, Mexico

The three casitas (guesthouses) and four newer suites here are beautifully furnished with canopied beds and antique art; each has access to lush grounds and the oldest swimming pool in Todos Santos. The pool was built in the 1950s, when the Rodríguez family bought the property as a hunting lodge for guests at their exclusive Rancho Las Cruces resort, 30 miles southeast of La Paz. The design style is a bit different for the four suites in Casa de Los Santos, but all have Saltillo-tiled floors, hand-carved furniture, and plenty of windows with which to appreciate the picturesque surroundings of palm groves, bamboo, and flower-filled gardens. One, Casa Santa Luz, has a wood-burning fireplace.

PROS

  • three casitas have private terraces and kitchens
  • great views from upstairs rooms
  • good swimming pool

CONS

  • little to do here for kids
  • despite the central location, a car is highly recommended for local shopping and dining
  • no on-site restaurant
