When to Go

True to its name, the rain forest in La Mosquitía gets significantly wet during the rainy season. The best, and driest, months to travel are from February through May and August through November, when the rivers are more navigable and jungle treks less likely to end up as mud baths. Heavy rainfall complicates land travel here from June through September, but it is still possible to make the journey. The weather is typically warm and muggy year-round and cools off significantly at night.
