Fodor's Expert Review Hotel La Finisterra

From its perch high above the southern end of Playa Hermosa, this small hotel commands the best view of the beach and bay, along with the best terrace for watching sunsets. The restaurant overlooks the pool and the sea. It's popular with local expats, who come for happy hour from 5 to 7 to sip sunset cocktails, followed by macadamia-encrusted sea bass, perhaps, or seafood pasta. Above the restaurant, contemporary rooms in pale yellow, orange, and green tones are simple but comfortable, with two doubles or one king-size bed, dressed with soft white linens. Large picture windows with screens let in evening breezes. Bathrooms have spiffy vessel sinks and all-glass shower enclosures. Rooms on the north side of the building have the best view, though the vistas from the common balcony and the pool area below are even more impressive. Rooms 9 and 10 are the largest but lack views, while Room 19—recently remodeled—has the best view and is the only room that has a private balcony.
