Fodor's Expert Review Victory

History defines this nautically themed hotel, which is inside an extremely atmospheric Gamla Stan building that dates from the 1600s, including part of the medieval city's fortress wall. In the 1930s construction workers stumbled across Sweden's biggest silver treasure ever found, just beneath the hotel. Artifacts from the HMS Victory, as well as Swedish antiques, decorate the public spaces. The restaurant, Djuret ("The Animal"), is a temple to organic and wild local meat and a hot ticket with locals.
