Bellver de Cerdanya

Bellver de Cerdanya has preserved its slate-roof-and-fieldstone Pyrenean architecture more successfully than many of La Cerdanya's larger towns. Perched on a promontory over the Río Segre, which winds around much of the town, Bellver is a mountain version of a fishing village—trout fishing, to be exact. The town's Gothic church of Sant Jaume and the arcaded Plaça Major, in the upper part of town, are lovely examples of traditional Pyrenean mountain-village design.
