Puerto del Rosario

Fuerteventura's capital, Puerto del Rosario, has suffered from an image problem for a long time. It used to be called Puerto de Cabra (Goat Port), but the "rebranding" as Rosary Port has not changed the fact that there's little of interest here to the average traveler. If you arrive by boat, your best bet is to rent a car (from €20 a day; Cicar has an office by the cruise terminal), skip town, and explore the island’s natural wonders.

If you find yourself in Puerto del Rosario with an hour or two to spare before your boat leaves, stroll round the Parque Escultórico (Park of Sculptures) in the center of town, where there are more than 50 works on display. The tourist office outside the port can provide a map and guide to the 15 most prominent sculptures.
